Lumo Light Festival is an outdoor art event with light (and sometimes sound) installations around Oulu.
Official event website is https://lumo.ouka.fi/en, but this (unofficial) page is here to help you get the best of it as well.
Here you can see some quick info, list of places and a map. This page mainly serves as a nice little guide for when you are outside and you just want to quickly check "where is that next thing?" on your phone.
Some tips, tricks and info about the festival:
- This year, the route includes 16 main points of interest, with the whole route taking about 3.5 kilometers
- Street lights around the art objects is turned off, making art installations stand out even more
- The festival takes three days, with Friday being usually the busiest one. So, word of advice - consider taking your time and maybe attending it on Saturday or Sunday, or splitting it in two days
- The event is kids friendly - in fact, many people take time to make beautiful costumes for kids that light up in the dark - or "improve" their strollers with 'em blinky lights
- and of course, it is never a bad idea to wear something reflective, sparkly or with many LED lights in your own costume
- you do not need to watch everything in a given order; mix and match, if you feel like it
- some caffees and restaurants have some specials; this is not listed here, but on the official site, you can read a whole lot about it
- enjoy, have a blast and be present in the moment - this is a spectacular event!
